Expanse
We are a diverse gaming community with focus on creating a welcoming, fun, and yet competitive environment for members of our community. With every game that we play, we strive to find the right balance of building friendships and keeping the content engaging and fun. We are not the type of community that expects you invest endless hours into games we play. We fully understand that there is a life for you out there, however, we do expect our members to put in real effort towards goals we set as a community with the time they can afford to spend on the games. This mentality allows us to stay competitive in games we play while being respectful of the time we all put in. This community is based on three simple pillars to keep us all in sync ensuring like-minded players are drawn towards Expanse and enticed to become engaged and enjoy their stay. You can read more about our pillars below.
Having fun is rather important to us. If we are to do things as a community the end goal should be fun, however, we find that the journey is just as important if not sometimes more important. So we do our best to keep things as fun and entertaining as possible. This can mean that you shouldn't take everything people say to heart. A bit of a thick skin is expected when you join in as people don't mean anything bad by some jokes that may seem otherwise when taken out of context. Approach everything in good spirit and you will enjoy your time here.
Our History
Our gaming community initially started on World of Warcraft Classic in a guild called Remix. We formed the second raid team called Respecticons and stayed raiding in Remix almost until the end of the game. When The Burning Crusade rolled around, a group of us from that raid team decided to form our own guild called Mars and this is how Expanse was initially born. We played on server called Herod and initially were called Mars. This was a big success for us as we managed to stay together even though the rest of the server was falling apart. The server inactivity and eventually closure of the server has forced us to migrate to a more active server called Faerlina. Upon this migration we discovered that our bellowed name Mars was taken and we had to find a new name for our guild. This time around we chose Expanse and Mars was the name of our Raid Team in the guild.
Faerlina was very good to us in terms activity. We were able to create a second raid team which we called Saturn. Like Mars, Saturn, was built around same principles and rules, which allowed us to have synergy in the guild among all raiders. We raided on different days to allow players to raid on both teams if they so wished or simply to help out for a week or two and we had great success with the new team. Not too long after that, we had the opportunity to form Team Pluto which was a team that came from another guild. They had saw the opportunity that our community has to offer and decided to give us a chance and form the third team. As you can imagine the guild activity rather blossomed with over 75 raiders actively raiding with us each week. Once the Burning Crusade ended and Wrath of the Lich King was released, all three teams continued into the new expansion.
It was around this time that our founder, Bagzli, has decided to step down from World of Warcraft and move on to other games. We have designated Dintok as our new Guild Master for World of Warcraft and the three teams still continue to exist and raid actively each week. Bagzli is now looking to form a new guild in Throne & Liberty and later on Ashes of Creation. More information on that you can find below.
Our Pillars
Diversity
Expanse consists of members from various backgrounds and we believe this to be our greatest strength. Being able to pull from experience of various members based on their unique life styles has not only allowed us to be who we are, but also to make smart decisions and find common grounds on issues that would otherwise divide us. After all, we come online to find a happy place to shed away the stress that life brings and find that creative freedom to express ourselves via games we play together.
Engagement
To call yourself part of a community, you are expected to be engaged in it. Engagement can come in many forms. It can be as simple as being an active member on our discord or an active member within games we play. It can be by helping create content via social media or website. Creating graphics for the community. The list is rather long and everyone chooses for themselves how they want to be engaged with our community. This allows us to maintain an active and vibrant community that can always be counted on. If you ever wish to create a new engagement platform in the community, all you need is ask. We are very open minded about growing our community.
Community
With everything that we do, we consider the impact on the community. People can from time to time not see eye to eye on certain matters. This can create friction between them and it can trickle into the community. Thus we expect of our community members to be capable of resolving conflict in a peaceful manner with an open mind. If you ever have a dispute to resolve, we expect you to do so in a private conversation and not in the open where it can cause more harm than good. If you are not able to come to a resolution among yourselves, you can always ask for help from one of our leaders. We will gladly step in and be an intermediary to help you navigate your differences. In addition, our community will have varying chains of command depending on the game we play. Members of our community are expected to be respectful of it and follow it when presented.
Choose Game
Throne and Liberty
Throne and Liberty currently does not has enough information out for us to be able to determine the type of content we wish to create. What we do know is that we are looking to actively participate in all forms of PvP and PvE content. Guild Wars is something we are very much looking forward to as well as castle sieges. Open world boss fights sound very interesting, especially since you need to defend your kill from other players. However, we do not have enough information to confirm any of this so we will see how things play out before we make official statements on what we as a guild will be doing. But we are interested in both aspects of the game.
We plan on having a very organizing structure and chain of command when it comes to the PvP side of things. It is difficult to finalize plans until we find out more information, however, the current plan for large scale PvP is to create squads for all participants. As a member you would join a squad and would report to your Squad leader who in turn will report to the commander. This sort of organizational structure will allow us to stay organized and mobilize ourselves in efficient manner to ensure victory against any opponent.
We are also looking to implement reward systems for active and contributing members of the guild. For example if you are person who constantly contributes to the guild, then we feel you should be recognized for it in some way. How this will look we are still unsure as there isn't enough information about the game on how guilds and crafting systems will work. We will update once we know more.'
Leadership
It is important to have a leader at the top who we all can count on to get the job done and not only that, but excel at it. Our community founder Bagzli, has been in leadership roles from the start of his gaming career. There isn't a multi-player game he played where he did not end up among the top leaders of the community or guild he played with. Furthermore, his accomplishments with each game have been phenomenal. From running large scale alliances in Archage to repel enemy factions and large clans, to hosting ArenaNet sponsored Guild Wars 2 PvP Tournaments, to hosting one of the best Rocket League and PUBG tournaments ever created (Supersonic Series & Armageddon Series). The list really goes on with each game he played. This goes to show that our leadership not only has the knowledge to do things the right way, but also the experience which is far more valuable.
Our guild in Throne and Liberty will consist of a chain of command starting with Bagzli and there is room for you to be part of it if you this is something that interests you. We are not only recruiting members, but also leaders who are thirsty for victory and have the potential to do great things. If you wish to get involved, fill out our application and Bagzli will get in touch. He is currently vetting all of the members personally to ensure we start of things the right way.
